The Ministry of Health is conducting the 2024
Bio-Behavioral Survey in select counties. The survey, that will run for the next
2 months, aims at providing information on behavioral and HIV seroprevalence information
among men who have sex with men (MSM), female sex workers (FSW), and people who
inject drugs (PWID) to inform HIV program planning among key populations as per
the universal health coverage interventions.
Under the stewardship of the PS Medical Service, Harry
Kimutai, NASCOP, led by Dr. Rose Wafula, with support from The Global Fund,
CDC-Kenya and other implementing partners will spearhead this survey.
Dr. Bashir Issack, Director of the Directorate of Family
health and Head NASCOP, Dr. Rose Wafula, together with key implementing
partners issued contracts to over 250 research assistants and coordinators for
deployment. IBBS marks a milestone in the Kenya plan to end AIDS by 2030 as per
the UNAIDS 95-95-95 target.
The survey will run for 70 days in Nairobi, Kiambu,
Mombasa, Kilifi, Nakuru, Machakos, Kajiado, Kisii and Kisumu.
