Weekly Updates: 17th – 23rd November, 2018.

National Updates

The KENPHIA survey continues in Nairobi fieldwork area (FWA), – Makueni, Machakos, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Kiambu, Kajiado, Narok and Nairobi. The FWA is be served by the Thika County Referral Hospital, Kitengela sub-County Hospital laboratories and the National HIV Referral Laboratory.
Radio Activations on Radio Citizen 106.7 FM, Inoor FM, Mayian FM (Maasai)
and Star FM (Somali) continued this week; Ghetto Radio (89.5 FM), which targets the youth in middle-class and informal communities started its activation on Monday 19th; community radio stations Mtaani Radio (Dagoretti) and Pamoja FM (Kibera) completed their activations on the 21st.

National Updates

The West Pokot County mini-launch took place on Tuesday 20th November

KENPHIA field staff awaiting the proceedings of the West Pokot county launch in Kapenguria.

Upcoming launches: Kiambu – 26th November, Trans Nzoia – 27th November, Nairobi – 1st December

Nairobi County health stakeholders joined by the Nairobi County Director of Health were sensitized on the survey by the implementing partners on Friday 23rd November at the Sarova Stanley Hotel in Nairobi’s CBD.

They then had a chance to offer feedback on the challenges, expectations and strategies towards effective data collection and return of results in Nairobi.
